Navigating 3D Project Views and Display Settings
INSTRUCTION TYPE: Exploration INSTRUCTION TITLE: Navigating 3D Project Views and Display Settings CATEGORY: Interface Basics OBJECTIVE: Learn to view projects in 3D and control the display of different building components
PREREQUISITES:
Basic software installation
Access to a sample project
EXPERTISE LEVEL: Novice
PARAMETERS:
View Modes: Different rendering options (Hidden, Shaded, Textured, etc.)
Component Visibility: Control over which building elements are displayed
STEPS:
Access Free Design by clicking on "FD" in the Building Navigation panel
Go to Free Design using Option 1-2-9 from the menu
Enable OpenGL rendering by selecting Option 9-5-1
Rotate the structure by clicking and dragging with the left mouse button to view it from different angles
Explore various render modes to understand their purposes:
Hidden view (Option 1-5-4): Shows only visible surfaces
Shaded view (Option 1-5-5): Adds simple shading for depth perception
Textured view (Option 1-5-6): Displays material textures
Textured and Edges (Option 1-5-7): Shows textures with outlines
Textured Objects (Option 1-5-8): Focuses on textured elements
Wireframe (Option 1-5-01): Shows all edges regardless of visibility
Open Display Settings (Option 1-7-1 or toolbar icon)
Toggle Building Parts on/off using the checkboxes
Toggle Objects on/off using the checkboxes
In the Building Navigation panel, locate the Roof section and uncheck it to hide all roof components
Locate the Walls section and toggle its visibility to understand how the building is structured

EXPECTED RESULTS: You should be able to rotate the 3D model freely, switch between different visualization modes, and control which building components are visible to understand the spatial relationships in the design.
COMMON VARIATIONS:
Some projects may have specialized visualization settings
Complex projects may have additional categories in the navigation tree
TROUBLESHOOTING:
If 3D view appears blank: Verify OpenGL is enabled (Option 9-5-1)
If toggling visibility doesn't work: Check if you're in the correct view mode
FOLLOW-UP ACTIONS:
Explore floor geometry and materials
Learn to examine wall properties
Understand roof structure and components
QUERY EXAMPLES: "How do I rotate the 3D model?", "How can I hide the roof to see inside?", "What's the difference between different rendering modes?"
