Abutment Construction

In the purlin input you can select settings for rafter roof constructions. You can modify or create these settings using the browser button at the right end of the drop-down list.

Using the drop-down list at the top of the dialog box, you can save the settings under any name or delete them again. These setting names will then also appear in the drop-down list of the purlin input.

Depending on the selection of the construction type, you can set either a corbel construction or a bearing construction. For the bearing construction the following settings are available:

Construction type: Here you select whether you want to set a corbel construction or the bearing construction. Depending on this setting, the subsequent fields in the dialog box change.

Lower edge of post at: Here you specify where the post should begin with its lower end. The options are 'Lower edge of purlin', 'Upper edge of purlin' and 'Upper edge of tie'. The purlin refers to the purlin to which the information for the bearing is attached.

Tie ID number: The ID number determines the material of the tie. Using the button at the end of the field you can branch into the database and select a material.

Tie width: Width of the tie, measured perpendicular to the rafters.

Tie height: Height of the tie, measured in the side plane of the rafters.

Shift of the tie: The tie can be shifted relative to the upper edge of the purlin. With a value of 0.000 the tie sits flush on the purlin. If the tie is pushed downward, a notch is created in the tie. Depending on the connection of post and tie, the post shortens or lengthens with the shift of the tie.

Post ID number: The ID number determines the material of the post. Using the button at the end of the field you can branch into the database and select a material.

Post width: Width of the post, measured perpendicular to the rafters.

Post height: Height of the post, measured in the side plane of the rafters.

Shift of the post: The post can be shifted relative to the rear edge of the purlin. With a value of 0.000 the post is flush with the rear edge of the purlin. If the post is pushed forward, a notch is created in the post. The tie shortens and lengthens automatically with the shift of the post.
