The 'Braces' function allows individual braces to be entered between a post and a purlin. This can be used, for example, where braces can be created around corners. The following settings can be made:

With the selection list at the top of the dialog box you can choose existing settings. Using the disk icon you can save the current setting under the same name or a new name. Via the management icon you can create new settings, also by adopting existing settings, or modify or delete existing settings. See 'Save settings' in the 'General Help' manual.

Identification number: The ID number determines the material of the brace. Using the switch at the end of the field, you can branch into the database and select a material.

Brace width: The width of the brace is measured perpendicular to the purlin.

Brace height: The height of the brace is measured parallel to the purlin.

Axis offset to post: Because the brace can be specified thinner than the post, you can position the brace in depth relative to the post. With the 'flush front' option, the brace is placed flush with the front face of the post; with the 'flush back' option it is placed flush with the back edge of the post. The 'centered' option places the brace centered relative to the post. Using 'Value' you can shift the brace out of the center by the entered amount.

Distance from top: The brace can be positioned using a combination of 2 of 3 values. One of these values is the 'distance from top'. This value is measured from the top edge of the post to the underside of the brace. If this value should not be entered, delete the value. This deactivates this field and the previously deactivated field ('slope' or 'horizontal offset') becomes active.

Slope: The brace can be positioned using a combination of 2 of 3 values. One of these values is the 'slope'. The slope is measured relative to the horizontal. If this value should not be entered, delete the value. This deactivates this field and the previously deactivated field ('distance from top' or 'horizontal offset') becomes active.

Horizontal offset: The brace can be positioned using a combination of 2 of 3 values. One of these values is the 'horizontal offset'. The horizontal offset is measured from the post to the outermost point of the brace. If this value should not be entered, delete the value. This deactivates this field and the previously deactivated field ('slope' or 'distance from top') becomes active.

Connection: The brace can be connected to posts and purlins. Which parameters are used for the selected operation can be viewed and changed using the switch at the right end of the field.

After entering all values you can determine the position of the brace. With 'OK' you leave the dialog box and first select the post and then the purlin between which the brace is to be created. The brace is then generated according to the configured rules and connected to the post and purlin.
