Swap Tiles

The function 'Batten/Tiles - Swap Tiles' replaces tiles within a roof surface or specific tiles from tile rows with different tile types.

Before executing this function, it is advisable to set the tile display to the 'Edges and Numbers' option. This is done in 'File - Settings - Display' in the first drop-down list within the 'Battens / Tile covering' section. The batten display in the lower drop-down list should be set to '(no battens)'.

After selecting the roof surface, it is rotated so the eave is parallel to the screen and displayed as large as possible. A dialog box appears to determine the type of selection or to terminate the function. This dialog box appears after each completed tile swap.

Tile row: Multiple adjacent tiles can be selected with one line. Several of these rows can also be selected in one operation, but they must run parallel to the first tile row. Only horizontal or vertical tile rows are possible. The selected tiles must have the same width.

individual tiles: Any number of individual tiles can be selected. To do this, simply click into the tile; it is not necessary to select an edge of the tile. The selected tiles must have the same width.

The following dialog box depends on the selection of tiles:

Tiles to replace: The selected tiles have a specific width; the drop-down list offers all tiles of the tile model that have the same width. Only tiles of the same width are therefore interchangeable. A special option is offered when replacing whole tiles: you can also replace them with a special half-width tile plus a normal half tile. This is required, for example, for certain snow guard stones. Conversely, an adjacent special half-width tile and a half tile can be replaced again by a whole tile if these two are selected together and only these two.

Selection of tiles in a tile row: In selected tile rows, often not every tile but only every fourth or fifth tile, etc., is replaced. This can be specified here. The first tile of each row is always replaced and from there, for example, every fifth tile is replaced. To obtain certain patterns, the selection for the start of the tile row must therefore be taken into account.

Position of the special tile: If a whole tile is replaced as described above with a special half-width tile and a half tile, the position of the special tile is determined here.
