Shift of the verges

The course of tiles must be covered by the tiles in its width (measured in the direction of the eaves). Since the left (not visible) edges of the tiles are positioned, we consider the covering width effectively on the underside of the tiles. The tiles therefore cover different widths: For a full tile the visible covering width corresponds also to the width on the underside. For the right verge tile, when using an interlocking tile, the width of the interlock is added to the width visible from above.

We require this precise consideration because the projection of the verge tile is automatically entered into the projection (offset) of the tile course relative to the batten course. The remaining edge profile is retained and shifts together with the verge.

When dividing the tiles across the width (in the direction of the eaves), in addition to a possible division point, the verges are taken into account primarily. If the division across the width does not fit, appropriate shifts for the verges are offered.

The dialog boxes for shifting the verges are oriented to the capabilities of the tile (variable covering width) and the situation (a verge on only one side or on both sides). The dialog box with the most options is described here by way of example.

Number of tile columns: Using the possible covering widths, the number of tile columns, i.e. the tiles placed side by side, is calculated. The verge tiles themselves are not counted. The number of tile columns can be increased with the + button or decreased with the - button. The 'selected covering width' is retained, thereby changing the roof overhang and the eaves height.

Covering width: This column indicates the minimum and maximum (if applicable) and the selected covering width. When the selected covering width is changed, an overall corresponding shift of the verges is calculated together with the number of tile columns. Only entries between the minimum and maximum covering width are accepted for the selected covering width. Using the arrow above the 'selected covering width' assigns a round value from the minimum and maximum covering widths where possible.

total shift at minimum - .. - maximum width: This indicates how large the total shift of the verges would be at the minimum and maximum covering widths of the tiles.

selected shift: This indicates the total shift of the verges at the selected covering width. If this value is changed, the selected covering width is calculated accordingly. Only entries between the minimum and maximum shift are accepted for the selected shift. Using the arrow above the 'selected shift' assigns a round value from the minimum and maximum shifts where possible.

Shift of the verges: If two verges are present, the total shift can be distributed across both verges. If one of the shifts is specified, the other is calculated automatically. The buttons transfer the total shift: 'left' applies it to the left verge, 'right' to the right verge. 'Distribute' divides the shift equally between the two verges.
