Preparation of the Excel File

This is the Excel file into which the data are written during export.

The settings for the entire export are contained in the project document and can be loaded via the data exchange in the construction data program. The material list settings for the export are also included.

Values and texts are written into an existing cell. The cell formatting is preserved. Headings for the ranges must be created beforehand.

Cells can be populated using three different variants:

Cell reference: This specifies a cell as the start cell and how many rows below it are prepared. That is, how many rows can be written. For example, A9 and the number of rows that are not yet populated. At least 3 rows should be prepared or left empty.

Named range: In Excel, ranges can be named using the Formulas -> Define Name function. For the named range, only the start cell is used. Again, the number of rows is specified. The advantage over the cell reference is that the range can be moved within the sheet. Since the values should be written into the range and not into the cell, no settings need to be changed in Dietrich's.

For both the cell reference and the named range, the target range can only be written once.

Named start and end range: To obtain a start and end range, name the top-left cell and the bottom-left cell of the range. Dietrich's then determines the number of prepared rows between the start and end range. With this variant, the target range can also be overwritten any number of times. Therefore, this method is preferred.

A named start and end range always consists of at least 3 rows: the row with the start range cell, the middle row, and the row with the end range cell.

In the source list, the start range is always entered with the value name and the suffix "_Anfang". The end range is entered accordingly with the value name and the suffix "_Ende". For example, "First_Anfang" for the start range and "First_Ende" for the end range. This makes it much easier in Dietrich's to distinguish the different ranges.

Since formatting is preserved, cells can be, for example, colored or even include units. Thus, for areas the unit m² can be shown directly next to the value.
