Roof Assistant - General
In this dialog box you configure the settings that are stored in a preset file. When applying, the settings from this file are executed for the respective roof surfaces. The dialog box consists of several sub-dialogs, which are accessed via the buttons at the lower left.
Using the drop-down lists in the settings dialog for the roof assistant, you select a setting that you previously saved in the corresponding dialog of the structural input. The small button at the right end of each field allows you to jump directly to that dialog. There you can, if necessary, modify values. The following should be considered:
The preset file does not only store the name of the chosen settings, but also all values that belong to that setting. The advantage is that a preset file continues to function even if one of the settings has been deleted from the manual structural input. When you use the button at the right end of a field to switch to the actual settings dialog of the member (e.g., threshold input), you can change values there. If you then leave that dialog with 'Ok', the changes are saved only in the roof assistant. They are NOT saved in the member's setting (e.g., threshold input). Therefore the setting in the roof assistant will be displayed in parentheses. If you want the changes to also be saved in the member's own setting, click the diskette icon at the upper right of the member's settings dialog (for example the threshold input).
The right part of the dialog box and the top row are always the same:
Save settings:
With the top row you save the settings in the preset file or select another file to edit, just as in the manual structural input. Use the large drop-down list to choose a different preset file from the list of existing files. If you click the diskette to the right, a dialog opens in which the name currently set in the drop-down list is suggested. If you want to save the settings under this name, click 'Ok'. Otherwise enter a different name to save the settings in a new file.
Using the management icon you can create new settings, including by adopting existing settings, or modify or delete existing settings. See 'Save settings' in the 'General Help' manual for details.
The trash-can icon also allows you to delete the current file.
As soon as you leave the dialog box by clicking the 'Save' button, the current settings are once again saved to the file shown above.
Information area on the right:
In the right information area you can optionally display either a help image or the parameters of the settings. The parameters appear when you have clicked the 'Parameters' button and the focus is in one of the drop-down lists where a setting (e.g., for thresholds/mid purlins) is visible. The displayed parameters show all values of the setting from the drop-down list. This allows you to quickly check whether you have selected the correct setting.
The image is a special case here. Because the content of the preset file depends on the user's settings, the program cannot generate an automatic help image. Anyone can display any image or photo here. Click the small button next to the 'Image' switch to do so. In the dialog box, select the desired image. Using the icon with the trash can you can also delete the image again. For example, you can display images that you created yourself via the save function in the OpenGL area. If a representative roof has been assigned to the preset file and you then save an image of it in the OpenGL area, you achieve the best recognizability for the preset file.
