Rough opening

Reference for dimensions: The dimension of the opening can alternatively be based on the rough opening or the frame dimension. The clearance plays a role here and can be entered further below in the field 'Clearance, wall stop'. The clearance is the difference between the rough opening and the frame dimension.

Reference for sill and lintel height: For the vertical position of the opening, a reference height can be selected here:

Lower edge of current storey: The sill and lintel height are positioned relative to the bottom edge of the current storey.

Top of floor construction: The next ceiling at the level of the bottom edge of the current storey is sought at the opening. Sill and lintel heights are measured relative to the top of the floor construction.

Sill height/threshold height: The vertical position of the opening can be determined by the sill height (window) or the threshold height (door) or by the lintel height. Only one of the two values can be entered. If you wish to enter the other value but its field is deactivated, delete the content of the active field and confirm with <Enter>. The other field will then become active and the previously active field will be deactivated. The sill/threshold height determines the vertical position of the bottom edge of the opening relative to the reference height selected above.

Lintel height: The lintel height is the height of the top edge of the opening relative to the reference height selected above. This value can be entered as an alternative to the sill height by deleting the sill height and confirming the empty field.

Width, height, etc.: These geometric data describe the geometry of the rough opening. For more complex shapes, several combinations are possible. The white fields are for input, the grey ones are shown as results. Fields can be cleared when a value is unknown by deleting the values.

Construction setback: This value allows the construction to be shifted backward from the visible side of the wall. This permits arbitrary adjustment of the construction's depth position.

Clearance, wall stop: With this list you can select a setting for clearance and the wall stop. Use the icon on the right edge to review and modify the setting.

Reveal: With this list you can select a setting for the reveal boards. Use the icon on the right edge to review and modify the setting.
