Circles, Arcs, Ellipses

Circles

Circles can be entered using various functions:

  • Center + Radius

  • 2 Points

  • 3 Points

  • with Tangent

The first three functions are self-explanatory from their names. The 'with Tangent' function allows entering a circle so that it tangentially touches one or more lines/circles. The difference to the regular snap function 'Tangent' is that not a line or circle is placed tangentially against an existing circle, but rather this circle is created by the function. To do this, first select a line, a circle or an arc to which the new circle should be tangent. The program then guides the user with various options until the circle is fully defined.

Arcs

Arcs can be entered using various functions:

  • 3 Points

  • Start + Center + End: start point, center point, end point of the arc

  • Start + Center + Angle: start point, center point, angle of the arc

  • Start + End + Height: start point, end point, height of the arc

Ellipses

Ellipses can be drawn simply by entering the two diameters. The ellipse can also be rotated by entering an angle. Ellipses can be edited with all functions that also apply to a circle.

Ellipses are also taken into account when importing DXF or DWG files and when exporting DXF files.
