2D Input Functions
In many program modules there is the option to create auxiliary constructions using lines. In addition, some program modules operate in two dimensions. For example, in the model area 'Floor Plan' work is always performed in top view, or in the model area 'Wall Construction' work is performed in the wall view. For inputs in these model areas or for construction lines, special 2D input modes are used. This 2D editor provides various snap functions, object snap functions and input options.
Input options
When entering lines or walls, individual lines or walls are created, whereby the endpoint of one line/wall simultaneously serves as the starting point of the next line/wall. The starting point is connected to the cursor during input by a rubber band or a rubber wall. The global coordinates of the cursor are continuously displayed beneath the graphics area in the status bar. Object snap is available, both temporarily and permanently set. Points can be entered graphically and by alphanumeric coordinate input. For alphanumeric input, a distinction is made between global coordinates, relative coordinates and polar coordinates (see chapter 'Coordinate Inputs'). There is also the option to determine the direction with the arrow keys and then enter only the length of the line. During input it is possible to switch freely between the different input modes.
The different coordinate input modes and various other actions can be set or triggered via keyboard input:
"1...9" Entering a number opens the dialog box for coordinate input. In the first line of the dialog box the type of coordinate input can be selected from a list. Each entry in this list is preceded by a number with which the coordinate input type can also be selected via the keyboard. If the first number used to open the dialog box corresponds to one of these numbers, that coordinate input type is preselected.
"→", "↑", "←", "↓" The arrow keys on the keyboard can preset the direction of the new line (only for horizontal and vertical lines). Additionally, the length of the new line is entered.
"F" The letter 'F' stands for 'Snap'. The abbreviation is entered as an "f" or "F". The program responds immediately; the 'F' does not need to be confirmed (do not press Enter). The program toggles grid snap on or off depending on the current setting. The snap settings themselves cannot be changed in this way.
