Extend

Only lines can be selected when extending. All selection functions are available for this purpose. The lines retain their position and orientation and are extended only at one end. To simplify the function, the end that is closer to the selection point of the line is automatically the one that is moved.

After choosing this function, a dialog box opens with the following fields:

Value by which to extend: Here a value can be entered by which the subsequently selected line will be extended (positive value) or shortened (negative value).

Total length of the line: Here the new length of the subsequently selected line can be entered. Regardless of the length of the later selected lines, they will receive exactly the length set here.

Percentage length of the original: Here a percentage value can be entered which will then determine the new length of the subsequently selected lines. The percentage value always refers to the length of each individual line. A value of 100 would preserve the original length; the line does not change. A value greater than 100 (e.g. 110) extends the line (to 110% of the original length). A value below 100 (e.g. 90) shortens the line (to 90% of the original length).

OK: If you close the dialog box with 'OK', you will be prompted to select the lines whose length should be adjusted. After you have selected all lines, end the selection with a right mouse click and the lines will receive their new length.

Graphical: With the 'Graphical' switch the values above have no relevance; the length of the lines is determined graphically.

: After choosing this switch you select the lines whose length should be changed. Once the selection of lines is finished with a right mouse click, you can choose a point that determines the extension or shortening. The chosen point is projected onto each individual selected line. That becomes the new endpoint of the line.
