Groups

Grouping

With 'Grouping', arbitrary plan elements in the plan program can be combined into a group. The advantage of these groups is that when selecting (e.g., for copying, moving, etc.) you do not have to select all plan elements of the group individually. With one click all elements of the group are marked. This group selection can be toggled on and off.

Groups can be nested to any depth. That is, one group may contain another group, and so on. An arbitrary number of groups can exist on a plan.

To combine plan elements into a group, select the 'Grouping' function and then choose the desired plan elements. If a group is selected in the process, all elements of that group are assigned to the new group. These elements will then belong to both the old group and the new group.

All selection functions are available for selecting drawing elements (lines, dimension chains, texts, etc.).

Ungroup

Groups can be dissolved again. The plan elements do not change in this process; they simply no longer belong to any group. The group then ceases to exist.

To dissolve a group, select the 'Ungroup' function and then click the desired group. All selection functions are available for choosing groups. In this case, only groups are considered by the selection functions.

Group selection

Plan elements are grouped so they can be selected more easily for certain functions. However, you do not always want to select all elements of a group at once. Perhaps only one line of a group should be recolored or something moved. In that case it would not be desirable for the program to always mark the entire group. For this reason, group selection can be toggled on and off.

If group selection is turned off, the group still remains. The program only ignores the fact that certain plan elements belong to a group.

The 'Group selection' is a toggle switch. That means when group selection is on, the menu shows 'Turn off group selection', and when it is off it shows 'Turn on group selection'. This way group selection can be switched on and off very quickly using the same icon.
