Area Determination

The 'Area Determination' function allows you to calculate the area of regions in the plan and insert it as text.

After invoking the function, a dialog box opens:

Name of the text style: The text inserted with the area indication on the plan is a standard text element that has the same properties as any other text. Therefore it receives a text style with which the area text can be formatted.

Rotation angle: The text can be inserted into the plan at the rotation angle entered here.

Area unit: Area unit in which the size of the determined area should be specified.

Number of decimal places: The number of decimal places for the size of the determined area.

Text entries: The text for the area label can be multiline. If a text is entered here, the entered text is displayed on a line above the area value. This can be used, for example, to specify the name of the room for which the area was determined.

Interior point: With the 'Interior point' input function you click with the mouse inside the area for which the area is to be determined. The program attempts to automatically detect the outer contour. The detected contour is displayed and, after confirmation, the text with the label and area value is attached to the crosshair and can be placed.

Contour: With the 'Contour' button you can enter any contour with the mouse. All input and snap functions are available. As soon as you choose the starting point again, the contour is closed and you can enter additional contours that will be treated as islands. The islands are then subtracted from the area previously determined by the first contour. Entry of the islands can be ended or canceled with a right mouse click. Afterwards the label with the area value is attached to the crosshair and can be placed.

Hatch takeover: Hatches are also defined by a contour. Therefore, with this button you can simply select a hatch. The program then adopts the hatch's contour as the contour for area determination.

Polyline: For closed polylines the enclosed area can be determined. The elements of the polyline must not intersect.
