Create Diameter Dimension
Diameter Dimension - Properties
The diameter dimension measures the diameter of arcs and circles. This dimension has the following properties:
The dimension line always receives an arrow at both ends.
The diameter symbol (∅) is automatically inserted before the dimension value.
For the diameter dimension, a prefix (before the diameter symbol) and a suffix (after the dimension value) are also taken into account.
The dimension line can pass exactly through the center of the circle/arc, but it can also be offset. As long as the dimension line passes exactly through the center, no extension lines are generated. Once the dimension line is offset and therefore no longer passes through the center of the dimensioned circle/arc, extension lines are generated in addition.
The extension lines run perpendicular to the dimension line. The length of the extension lines is determined in the same way as for dimension chains. There are long and short extension lines.
When placed, the diameter dimension can be rotated inside the circle/arc in 15° increments.
After rotation, the dimension line can be freely moved perpendicular to the dimension line.
If the dimension line is too short to accommodate the arrow and the dimension text including the symbol (∅), prefix and suffix, the dimension line is extended beyond the circle/arc at both ends. The arrows then point from the outside toward the circle/arc. The dimension line is lengthened at the end with the dimension text so that the dimension text including the symbol (∅), prefix and suffix fits on the line.
The dimension text is always readable from below or from the right and is placed on the dimension line in the same manner as for chained dimensions.
On the right side, the space inside the circle is too small:

The dimension text can, as with dimension chains, be freely moved. The same function is used as for dimension chains.
Diameter Dimension - Creation
To create a diameter dimension, simply select a circle or an arc. The dimension arrow is created immediately and can then be rotated with the mouse. The dimension arrow moves in 15° increments. After positioning, the dimension arrow can be moved perpendicular to the dimension line. If, however, it should pass exactly through the center of the circle or arc, simply cancel the displacement with a right-click of the mouse.
