Printable Areas
When automatic bar markings are placed at a fixed position at the bar start, it can occur that the marking lies within a machining operation and is subsequently milled away. This can be prevented by automatically shifting the marking into a free area. We call these free areas printable areas.
The post-processor can generate automatic bar markings. You set the position of these markings in the sub-dialog "Position running number". There you select the bar side and the bar end (start or end) for the respective bar type. In the sub-dialog "Tools" you select the text or marking tool and enter the "Distance from the bar end for numbering". Although the terms always refer to numbering or the running number, because in the past only the running number was written on the bars, today the string can contain any other information and thus become significantly longer. The position and length of the marking can result in the marking or a part of it being milled away by another machining operation.
To prevent this from happening, since V26.02.1 you can enable the option "Place marking in free area". This activates a special analysis with which the program analyzes the component and searches for a free area. The program starts at the longitudinal position specified in the field "Offset for free marking area". From this longitudinal position, the program searches for a free spot without machining that is at least as long as specified in the field "Minimum length of free marking area".
There is a video on the topic "Printable Areas" in the practical tips on our E-learning platform.
