Automatic Movement of the Last Post of a Wall

The clear distance between corner posts, partition studs, field supports, window posts, and manually placed posts is often filled with insulating materials that are cut into strips. Therefore, one attempts to obtain as many clear fields as possible of a particular width so that the strips do not need to be cut from that standard width.

Situations often arise in which the fields to the left and right of a field support do not correspond to the standard width. Under certain conditions, the field support can be shifted so that at least one of the fields has the standard width. The standard width is calculated as: (((board width of the reference plane) + (air in width of the reference plane) -- (width of partition studs) -- (width of field supports)) / 2).

The shift of the field support is performed automatically (i.e., without further action by the user) under the following conditions:

  • There is exactly one field support

  • Only exactly one stud layer may refer to the reference plane

  • If other claddings also refer to the reference plane, they must have an offset of 0.

At an appropriate point during layout, we determine the clear distance on both sides for each field support. The clear distance is measured along the X direction of the wall. All components of the component type 'rod' whose axis is parallel to the wall's Z axis and that belong to group 0 are taken into account. If both clear distances do not match the standard width, the field support is shifted so that one of the two distances corresponds to the standard width. We intend to adjust the clear distance to the standard width for the side that is farthest from the nearest field boundary or wall end. Thus, within the wall we consider the wall ends (of layer 0) and the field boundaries (for window-oriented layouts at each opening). The wall end or field boundary that is nearest to the field support is considered. Of the two clear distances, the one that is set to the standard width is the one that is farthest from that wall end or field boundary.
