# Material Database

In Dietrich's software, the material database is a collection of all item numbers (materials) used for components in your projects. The material database is an important part of the Project Data Program and contains information on the type of part, material, and important parameters like ordering information and profile descriptions. Each part created in Dietrich's is assigned a specific Item number that carries this information throughout the design process into lists, plans, and machine files.
