# Height Limitation of Loft Walls

Up to which roof level should the exterior or interior walls run? This can be determined easily in the roof surface configuration within the roof alignment:

But what is to be done if the walls must maintain a distance to the upper or lower edge of the roof level?

### Example:

The rafter height is 180 mm, but the wall plate does not reach up to the top of the rafter; for example, it only reaches 30 mm below it.

## **Solution:**

* In the roof surface configuration I change Level 0 to precisely those 30 mm and Level 1 to, for example, 150 mm; from this a rafter thickness of 180 mm would result.

* The penetration of the levels is changed to Level 0, so the wall plates automatically intersect at the underside of Level 0, i.e. 30 mm lower.

### **Caution:**

When using such a “substitute configuration” the purlins should not be entered beyond the notch depth, because in that case the top plate is calculated from the level thickness minus the notch depth. With the “incorrect” level thickness this would result in a top plate reduced by 150 mm in our example!

A precise offset of the individual wall layers relative to the wall top generated in this way is, of course, possible when using the HRB editor. This gives you the correct detail and an accurate measurement automatically for every connection situation!
