Dietrich's Cloud and Cloud Viewer
Dietrich’s Cloud is the central online platform for storing, managing, and sharing 3D models and project-related files from the Dietrich’s software environment. It enables users to securely store projects in the cloud, organize them, and access them at any time from any device.
The Cloud Viewer is the web-based 3D view of models exported to the cloud. It allows builders, partners, and project participants to gain direct insight into the digital building model without installation and without specialized software. The presentation is browser-based, intuitive, and offers a variety of navigation, structure, and information functions. This significantly simplifies and accelerates communication around planning, design, and execution.
Together, Dietrich’s Cloud and the Cloud Viewer provide a powerful solution for modern, collaborative work in timber construction—independent of location, device, and software installation.
Logging in to Dietrich’s Cloud
Access via the Dietrich’s software
In the project management area and in the Dietrich’s programs, the “Sign in” button is located at the top right.
After signing in, the username is displayed there. Via the menu item “Dietrich’s Online” you can go directly to Dietrich’s Cloud.
Registration
After clicking “Sign in,” the login dialog opens in the web browser.
A new account can be created there.
After registration, you will receive a verification link by e-mail which must be confirmed to activate the account.
First start of Dietrich’s Cloud
After successful login you will be redirected to the start page.
Since no 3D Web Viewer files are present yet, the project overview is initially empty.
A short introductory video explaining the upload is located on the start page.
User information
At the bottom left you will find:
the e-mail address of the active account
below it the company license and the available storage space
Cloud Viewer positions do not have an automatic expiration time, in contrast to the files previously stored temporarily in the D-Cloud. They remain stored permanently as long as sufficient storage space is available in the account.
Once the total allocated storage of a company license is exhausted, no further data can be uploaded. In this case it is the user’s responsibility to delete files or entire projects that are no longer needed to free up storage space.
Account settings
By clicking the e-mail address you access the settings of your Dietrich’s account. The following can be changed here:
E-mail address
Name
Password
Additional functions:
Manage categories: Frequently used categories can be saved and later easily selected for files.
Delete account: Deleting the account will irrevocably remove all projects.
Team settings (administrator)
The first user of a company license is automatically the administrator. Administrators can:
view all team members
appoint additional administrators
remove users from the team
upload 3D Web Viewer files
The upload is performed in DICAM via:
1 File → 05 Export → 04 3D Web Viewer
There the following can be selected:
Save locally
Save to the cloud
Notes:
The dialog automatically responds to license status and login.
Upload to the cloud is only possible with a subscription license.
After the upload the project appears in the cloud project management (if necessary refresh the page with F5).
Cloud Viewer projects
Contents in the project
After an upload the project contains:
the Cloud Viewer position
any created scenes
additional uploaded files (documents, images, etc.)
Please note that in the first version of Dietrich’s Cloud only the user who uploaded a Cloud Viewer position has access to it. Direct project or position sharing with other team members within the cloud is currently not possible.
Access by additional persons is only possible via the share link. By distributing this link, both internal team members and external project participants can view and use the corresponding Cloud Viewer position.
Tab “Files”
All project files are listed.
Cloud Viewer positions can be opened by clicking the name.
Icons on the right enable:
Downloading
Deleting
Copying the share link
Tab “Settings”
Change project name
Project image & sharing
Top left:
Set project image
Without a custom image, the preview image of the first scene is used.
Bottom left:
Regenerate share link (invalidates previous shares)
Delete project
Cloud Viewer
The Cloud Viewer provides builders and other participants with an easily accessible, interactive 3D model. The exported file contains both the model and the Cloud Viewer interface.
Cloud Viewer properties
No installation required, runs in all common browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, Edge, etc.)
Intuitive navigation (rotate, pan)
Show and hide components via the building structure:
Floors
Walls
Ceilings
Roofs and roof surfaces
Save scenes and comments
In the Cloud Viewer scenes can be saved to support communication among all project participants. A scene stores the current representation of the 3D model including all relevant visualization and view settings. These include, among others:
hidden components and volumes
current viewing direction
active clip box settings
used projection type (e.g., perspective, orthographic projection)
attached comments
author of the comments
Saved scenes are displayed within the project and can be viewed by anyone who has the project share link. Additionally, these users can further comment on the scenes, enabling transparent and traceable coordination directly within the model.
Structuring the contents
Floors and roof are additionally structured by:
Building elements (wall bodies, ceiling layer panels …)
Stair (group 17)
Building services (groups -18, -19)
Design elements (groups 16, 18, 19)
Structural components (groups -17 to 15)
Structural components are additionally sorted by MOS group. The designation of the component appears in the tree for each entry.
Component information
For selected components the following are displayed:
Material
Dimensions
Designation
Serial number
If serial numbers are missing, the system requests a sorting before export.
Additional functions
Show/hide sky background and terrain surface
Full-screen mode for optimal display on desktop and mobile devices
Collapsible menu area and structure tree
Measurement function to check distances and dimensions
Online help
A detailed functional description of the Cloud Viewer is available under Information (icon: circle with “i”).
