# Opening Input

When placing the dormer, it is intersected with the main roof. This creates a hole in the main roof surface automatically. This hole can be modified via the 'hole input'.

The left, right and front edge of the dormer hole can be shifted relative to the automatically generated opening. This depends on the dormer type. Therefore, a separate auxiliary illustration is displayed for each dormer type. There you can see how the displacement is to be understood.

In addition, an upper opening height can be specified. This only has an effect if the entered value for the height lies within the area of the dormer. This height can be entered either from the underside of the floor slab (UK-storey) or as a global value. You switch to the global height by deleting the height from the underside of the floor slab. The height from the underside of the floor slab can only be entered if a storey has been created (only with the 'floor plan input' module).

The main roof rafters are also automatically separated by this dormer opening.
