# Formwork and Sheathing - Calculate Rafter Editings

Formwork-rafter modifications: Formwork that penetrates existing rafters, inclined rafters, ridge and valley rafters without being divided by them may generate modifications within these rafters or lower them. Limit values from 'File - Settings - Limits, Modifications' are taken into account.

* At the beginning and end of the components, eave formwork cutouts are generated. According to the limit value 'additional length cutout', these are extended.
* If only a component length without a cutout remains that is smaller than the limit value (min. non-modified length), the entire component is cut out or lowered.
* If the formwork does not rest across its full width, a rabbet is created. The rabbet always runs over the entire length of the component. According to the limit value 'additional rabbet width', the rabbet is widened.
* If the component is completely covered, it is lowered. In doing so, the cross-section is first reduced and then rounded up to the value specified in the limits for cross-section height.
* Rafters with an applied shortening are also considered in the calculation if they would terminate at an eave without shortening.

One or multiple roof surfaces can be recalculated. The following function calls are available for this purpose:

**All roof surfaces**: All roof surfaces of the current building are selected.

**Building contour**: All roof surfaces of the subsequently selected building contours are assigned.

**Roof surfaces**: Afterwards, the desired roof surfaces can be selected individually. Multiple surfaces can also be assigned simultaneously.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.dietrichs.com/dietrichs-intelligent-documentation/docs-de-en/design-program/modellbereiche/dach/dachbereiche/schalung-und-beplankung/schalung-und-beplankung-sparrenbearbeitungen-berechnen.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
