# The Rafter Nail Hole

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/G6XYQMRp10o>" %}

A rafter-nail hole can be generated in two ways. This can simply be information attached to the notch or it can create its own hole. Both options have different properties:

**From notch**: The information for the rafter-nail hole exists as data attached to the notch, is passed to the machine in that form, and the machine then treats the rafter-nail hole accordingly. This type of rafter-nail hole is not displayed in the structure. The diameter of this rafter-nail hole is set under 1-7-8 *Limits, machining* configured.\
This rafter-nail hole is generated on notches and open notches.

**Rafter-nail hole**: Under this group you can choose a separate, detailed setting. If one of these options is selected, the rafter-nail hole is no longer created as information on the notch, but rather a standalone hole is created and represented as such. In addition, the rafter nail itself can also be generated.\
This rafter-nail hole is generated on notches, open notches (including ridge and valley rafters), corner notches and leaves (for very shallow rafters).
