# Rafter Nail Hole

{% embed url="<https://youtu.be/JbpHHCUyrQY>" %}

In this dialog, detailed settings for rafter-nail drillings can be created. These rafter-nail drillings can be configured for foot and intermediate purlins, ridge purlins, rising purlins, rafters, sloped rafters, hip rafters, and valley rafters. Which rafter-nail drilling is generated and when is set on the respective components.

**Position of the rafter-nail drilling across the rafter**: There are several options to determine the position across the rafter. Using 'center', 'left' and 'right' will generate a rafter-nail drilling that may be shifted to the left or right. With the 'left and right' option, two drillings are generated, one shifted left and the other shifted right.

**Lateral offset of the drilling**: For the options 'left', 'right' and 'left and right' specify here the amount of the shift. The shift is measured outward from the center of the rafter.\
For corner cuts the distance is measured as follows:

**Rearward offset of the drilling**: The rafter-nail drilling can also be shifted rearward so that the nail no longer hits the purlin edge directly. This is especially relevant for shallow roof slopes. The distance is measured in plan (global XoY plane).\
For the corner cuts of hip rafters see the image above.

**Roof slope below which the drilling is shifted**: The rearward shift is applied only if the slope of the component is shallower than the value entered here.

**Connection**: Here you select the connection that generates the drilling and, if applicable, the nail. The connection used is: Manage Connections -- One-sided limited with direction.

# Agent Instructions: Querying This Documentation

If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.dietrichs.com/dietrichs-intelligent-documentation/docs-de-en/design-program/modellbereiche/dach/dachbauteile/dachbauteile-schwellen-mittelpfetten/sparrennagelbohrung.md?ask=<question>
```

The question should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.
