# The crosshair

The reticle can be a 2D or 3D reticle and can additionally be displayed with or without characters and either purely black or colored. The setting for this can be found in the model area DICAM under 1-7-2 *File - Settings - Screen Elements*.

In the dialog box you can specify in the lower right whether a 3D reticle should be used and how it should be configured.

Beneath the dropdown list with this selection there is also the field "Reticle size (% of screen width)". With the default value of 10%, the length of the reticle lines corresponds to 10% of the screen width. At 100% the lines are effectively infinitely long, i.e., they always extend across the entire screen.

There is also a practical tip on the subject of "Reticle 2D / 3D" on our [eLearning platform](https://dietrichs-learn.com/catalog/content/info/3666?vc_cik=952177-rgMKc-6022s-u2kim\&vc_lpid=3666).
