# Solid Lines

In the graphic representation, some lines are emphasized by a greater line weight; these lines are called *solid lines*. This is used, for example, at section edges of components in sectional views. For solid lines the line weight can now be set to the value "*FROM LAYER solid line*". This causes the line weight to be taken from the layer and then increased by a factor. Thus, if the layer's line weight is changed, the line weights of the normal lines and those of the solid lines change by a correspondingly greater amount.

The factor is set in 1-7-2 *screen elements* in the parameter *Solid Line Weight Factor* set. The default value for the factor is 1.40; if the normal lines have a line weight of, for example, 0.35 mm, then the solid lines will be approximately 0.50 mm. The factor can be changed at any time to, for example, emphasize the difference.
