# Multiline Text

The "Multiline Text" feature allows you to enter blocks of text that are treated as a single text entity. A text block may consist of any number of lines.

The dialog box allows the following inputs and settings:

**Name of the text style**: Here the text style to be used for formatting the text is selected.

**Text input**: The text may be of any length. In the dialog box it will automatically wrap at the end of the input field. This behavior does not affect the representation on the drawing. There the text is not wrapped in the same way but retains its full length until a manually entered paragraph (press Enter). For wrapping, also refer to the "Field width" setting.

**Insert keyword at cursor position**: A keyword can be inserted at the cursor position in the text field. When the text is inserted, the program automatically replaces this keyword with the corresponding text. This allows insertion of various date displays, addresses, etc.

To insert, select the desired keyword from the drop-down list and click the button with the upward arrow.

> The visible content of keywords on the drawing can be updated at any time. To do so, select the function "Texts - Update keywords".

**Field width**: A width can be assigned to the text block. This width is entered in the unit configured in the program. If the entered text is wider than the field width, it will automatically wrap at the end of the field.

**Rotation angle**: The text can be inserted rotated. Enter the angle by which the text should be rotated.

**Alignment**: The text can be inserted "left-aligned", "right-aligned" or "centered".

**Reference point for text placement**: The text block can be inserted using one of the nine displayed points. The block will then be attached to the cursor at that point and can be placed using all input and snap functions.

**Positioning**: Using the "Position" function, the text is inserted so that it is readable from the lower edge of the drawing. The text block is attached to the crosshair at the chosen reference point and can be placed using all input and snap functions.

**Alignment**: With "Align", the text block can be aligned to a line defined by two points. If a rotation angle has also been entered, the rotation angle refers to the line defined by those two points.

When placing the text, as usual, all points, line endpoints and the points configured in object snap are snapped. However, this can also be disabled via Settings -- General.
