# Single-line Text

The single-line text has some peculiarities compared to the multi-line text. It is intended to allow single-line labels, which occur very frequently on drawings (e.g., on bars), to be entered as quickly as possible:

* The program remembers the last entered text. If the function is called again, the last text appears in the text input line.
* When the dialog box opens, the fields for the 'text style name', the 'rotation angle' and the toggle for the snap function are skipped. We assume that the formatting will remain the same in most cases. The cursor is placed directly in the text input line so that the next text can be entered immediately.
* With the 'Enable snap function' switch you can turn the snap function on and off for positioning the text line. This makes it especially quick to place leader-style labels.

For a description of the configuration options and switches, see 'Multi-line Text'.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.dietrichs.com/dietrichs-intelligent-documentation/docs-de-en/2d-auxiliary-geometry/texte-beschriftungen/texte/einzeiliger-text.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
