Wird die Funktion 'Freie Dachfläche' gewählt, muss zunächst ein Dachkonturpolygon gewählt werden. Dies kann sowohl in der XoY-Ansicht als auch in einer beliebigen Ansicht geschehen.\ Nach der Wahl des Dachkonturpolygons öffnet sich eine Dialogbox, in der die Werte für die Dachfläche eingegeben werden können. Abhängig von den in der Dialogbox eingegebenen Werten können verschiedene Funktionen zum Erzeugen der Dachfläche gewählt werden. Es können auch Dachkonturpolygone gewählt werden, die bereits eine Dachfläche haben. In diesem Fall bleibt die bereits bestehende Dachfläche so lange erhalten, bis die neue Dachfläche erzeugt wird.
