# Nailing stud-frame station

## Nailing of sill / top plate - studs

This function is only available on the Bautech and Randek CDT machines, whereby Bautech uses only the upper half of the dialog box.

The nailing between sill / top plate and the studs is enabled with the checkbox at the upper edge of the dialog box. This nailing generates nails only when the studs are flush with the top plate and sill. In the case of a butt joint, these nailings are not generated, since a butt joint already stabilizes the studs sufficiently.

With the table in the upper part of the dialog box, one or more nails can be generated side by side, depending on the stud width (post width). The 'Distance from front edge of first nail' specifies the distance from the stud edge to the first and last nail.

There is a special case to note for the value 'Distance from stud front edge to first nail' when only one nail is to be generated. If the nail type is set to 'corrugated nail' at the bottom, the distance must be set to 0.0 so that the nail is generated in the center of the stud. This ensures that the corrugated nail is always generated centrally, regardless of the stud width. However, if the nail type is set to 'nail', the distance is taken into account exactly as entered. A distance of 0.0 generates a nail at the left stud edge. To generate the nail centrally for a stud with a width of 0.06 m, enter a distance of 0.03 m.

With the fields directly below the table, an additional distribution of nails over the height of the studs can also be configured. The '**Distance to upper/lower stud edge**' is again the distance between the upper and lower stud edge and the next nail.

In between, a distribution of nails is calculated, which can be influenced with the values '**Minimum distance between two rows of nails**' and '**Maximum distance between two rows of nails**' can influence.

## Nailing top plate - parallel blocking members

<figure><img src="/files/21d4cc005f86eaa4c9504e014b37d65c57bfb2fc" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

In some constructions, a blocking member is entered above openings and installed directly under the top plate. These blocking members are to be nailed to the top plate. With the settings below, a distribution of nails can be generated in both directions of the blocking member. This means a distribution in the longitudinal direction of the blocking member as well as across its width. The blocking members must touch the top plate; otherwise, they are not considered. For the purposes of this analysis, horizontal members of group 0 and with member types 640, 641, and 642 are considered as blocking members. This type of nailing is enabled with the checkbox.

With the '**Distance to end of the blocking member**' the distance from the start / end of the blocking member to the next nail is specified.

The '**Distance from nail to nail**' is a maximum value. The program distributes the nails between the first and last nail with the greatest possible spacing, based on the entered distance.

The '**Minimum distance to longitudinal edge of blocking member**' is the distance from the longitudinal edge of the blocking member to the first nail, across the width of the blocking member. This distance is required for calculating the nail distribution across the width of the blocking member.

<figure><img src="/files/16ba55302bc446f3ba4e3a2c2637f61e694101a4" alt=""><figcaption></figcaption></figure>

The '**Minimum distance between two rows of nails**' and the '**Maximum distance between two rows of nails**' are again required for calculating the number of rows of nails in stud width. The program uses this to calculate an even distribution of the rows of nails across the width of the blocking member.

If multiple blocking members are arranged one after another (in the wall thickness), this analysis is performed for each of the blocking members.
