# Distribute studs independently of boards

As described above, studs are generated by referencing a sheathing. In individual cases, however, it may be desirable to create studs independently of the sheathing. In this case, configure a sheathing that defines the studs’ positions but has a thickness of 0.0. The panels will not be created thereby, but they will nevertheless determine the positions of the intermediate studs and field supports.
