# Multiple Settings for an Opening

As an example, the window setting shall serve; the same applies exactly to doors.

The settings for the windows can be varied:

* The mullions are possibly (almost) always the same.
* A standard bolt is used for "small" windows.
* A larger bolt is used for large windows.
* In other cases, two standard bolts should be used.
* In some cases, a roller shutter should be taken into account.
* In some cases a strap winder should be installed and sometimes it is mounted on top.
* Etc.

Of course, one can incorporate the complete construction for the respective situation into a single setting, but then one ends up with many settings before all combinations are created. The alternative is to create a setting for each individual item (for example each point listed above) that contains only that specific item. For a window replacement one then needs several settings that can be combined arbitrarily.

What should be considered with this procedure?

* Each setting can (but does not have to) contain components, and these will all be generated provided the conditions for each component (cross-section is defined, position is correct) are met.
* Each setting always provides layer offsets for the opening, and this point must be observed!

Which offset applies now if each setting provides an offset?

* Normally an empty field is equivalent to the value 0.0. This is not the case here; an empty field is a field without an offset.
* The program compiles all offsets from all settings for each field.
* If a field receives multiple offsets from different settings, the last offset applies. Here the order of the HRB types at the opening plays a role.
* If a field did not receive any offset at all, it receives the offset 0.000.
