# Roof Surface Construction

In the system, specifications for roof surfaces can be defined. When a roof surface is generated through roof layout calculation, different information is adopted from the specification. All these values are then stored in the roof surface. A subsequent change to the specification is not automatically applied to roof surfaces that have already been calculated.

After invoking the function 'Roof layout calculation -- Manage roof surface specifications', the dialog box for defining roof surface specifications opens.

Using the selection list at the top of the dialog box, existing settings can be selected. With the diskette icon you can save the current setting under the same name or under a new name. Via the management icon, new specifications can be created, including by adopting existing roof surface specifications, and existing specifications can be modified or deleted. See 'Save settings' in the 'General Help' manual for more information.

The following values can be configured for each specification.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://docs.dietrichs.com/dietrichs-intelligent-documentation/docs-de-en/design-program/modellbereiche/dach/dachflachenausfuhrung.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
