# Roof Components - Transfer Rafter Heel

The “Transfer rafter foot” function allows the second segment of one or two rafters to be transferred onto a ridge or valley rafter. After selecting the function, first specify the ridge or valley rafter that should receive the rafter foot. Then select one or two rafters or hip/valley rafters. If you select only one rafter or hip/valley rafter, the ridge/valley rafter is cut at the same elevation as that rafter/hip-valley rafter and at the same angle. However, if you select a rafter/hip-valley rafter on one roof plane adjacent to the affected ridge‑valley line and another rafter/hip-valley rafter on the opposite roof plane, the ridge rafter will receive a sloped chamfer on its underside and the valley rafter a sloped bevel. The chamfer and bevel faces have the same angle as the segment faces on the rafters/hip‑valley rafters.
