# The Rules of Roof Layout

For a roof calculation we first require a house outline to which we can attach the three roof attributes. The roof attributes are:

* Eaves overhang
* Eave height
* Roof pitch

The program then computes a roof layout from these. For a gable roof, as in the video above, this is relatively simple; in other cases more complex roofscapes with ridges and valleys arise.
