# Special machining operations

The group of special operations is now available. In addition to the pure volume operations (without machining operations), this also includes the Free Section.

* Free Section:
  * With the Free Section, a section can often be defined much more easily than via a point symbol.
  * As in the manual input of a free section, the plane is defined by 3 points, the cutting plane is placed through a further point, and the fifth point determines the end of the component to be cut off.
  * In addition, an offset from the defined cutting plane can be specified.
  * All components of the first group are cut off.
  * A machining operation of the Section or Deburring type is created.
* Intersect
  * The components of the first component group are the hard ones, those of the second group are the soft ones. All hard components are subtracted from all soft components. Both components are retained in each case.
  * If the hard component is to serve only as a subtraction body and is to be removed after the operation, then only the identification number **TEMPORARY** must be assigned. See also Temporary Volumes in Composite Elements.
* Union
  * All components of the first group are combined into one component.
  * The volume information and the coordinate system are adopted from the first component of the group.
* Intersection
  * For the component of the first group, the intersection is formed with the respective component of the second group. The first component of the first group is intersected with the first component of the second group, the second with the second, and so on.
  * Intersection: Only the volume that exists in both components remains.

Composite Elements - Special Operation - Assign Information: With this special operation, information can be assigned to query bodies:

* The following can be assigned: identification number, member type / designation, texture set / additional color texture set, MOS groups and free MOS.
* The original information of the component is retained. If the composite element is deleted, the original information is restored.
* The information can be assigned for query bodies. These are entered in *components / hard / first components* . Accordingly, only **K*****n***, i.e. **K1**, **K2** etc. may be used.
