# Dimension style - elevation markers

## Elevation labels general

**Text before the dimension value (prefix)**: You can insert additional text before each dimension value. For a standard dimension chain this option will only be required in individual cases. In such cases you can also add this prefix using the 'Modify' function for a single dimension chain.

**Text after the dimension value (suffix)**: You can insert additional text after each dimension value. For example, you can place the unit after each number. Note: In architectural dimensioning the unit may change while the suffix remains the same.

**Number of decimal places**: The number of decimal places for the elevation labels.

**Height of the elevation labels**: Here you set the height of the triangle of the elevation labels. The value is measured on paper.

## Architectural dimensioning for elevation labels

The dimension unit "**Architecture**" causes a special, space-saving formatting of dimensions within dimension chains:

* The base unit is meter. Only negative values are prefixed with a minus sign.
* The value 0.000 is displayed as **0** .
* Dimensions between 0.000 and 1.000 m are shown in centimeters: 0.290 as **29**
* Two decimal places (centimeters) are shown. If the third decimal place (millimeter) is not 0, it is superscripted: 1.236 as **1.23^6^** / 0.295 as **29^5^**.

For elevation labels a different formatting is appropriate; this has now been implemented and is applied automatically for elevation labels when the unit "**Architecture**" is selected.

* The base unit is meter. Positive values are prefixed with a plus sign, negative values with a minus sign.
* The value 0.000 is displayed as **±0.00** .
* Dimensions are always shown in meters with two decimal places (centimeters). If the third decimal place (millimeter) is not 0, it is superscripted:\
  1.236 as **+1.23^6^** / 0.295 as **+0.29^5^** / -5.340 as **-5.34** / -4.564 as **-4.56^4^**

A dimension style now produces an appropriate formatting of dimension chains and elevation labels.
