Settings - Save
General
Using the “Save settings” icon, you can save the current configuration of a dialog box under any desired name. As soon as you click the icon, a dialog box opens in which you can enter the name of the configuration. If you had previously selected a configuration that you only intended to modify, the old name is already filled in automatically in the dialog box. If you only want to overwrite the old configuration, you do not need to enter anything further and close the dialog box with “OK”. If, however, you want to save the modified configuration under a new name, overwrite the prefilled name and then finish with “OK”.
Using “Cancel” closes the dialog box without saving the configuration.
Reduce dialog box
In some dialog boxes, the option “Reduce dialog box” is available when saving settings.

This option is useful when a function offers a very large number of configuration options, many of which are not required. As an example, consider the tenon function, which offers many possibilities that may be required in some countries but will never be relevant for a German carpenter. In such a case it is advisable to save a few standard configurations and simultaneously switch off the fields that are never needed, thereby reducing the dialog box that will be displayed later.
Using the “Reduce dialog box” switch saves the current configuration just like the “OK” switch and additionally allows you to reduce the dialog box.
As soon as you click the “Reduce dialog box” switch, the main dialog box whose configuration you want to save is displayed again. However, all fields are now highlighted in blue or red.

The red fields will no longer be visible later when using the configuration. The blue fields, on the other hand, are displayed as usual. By clicking into a field you can toggle its status (from red to blue and vice versa). You may do this as many times as you like.
If the dialog box also has buttons below the configuration fields that allow you to switch to other areas of the dialog box, you can also select those and toggle the fields there on or off. If you switch all fields in a dialog box area to red (i.e., off), the corresponding button will not be displayed later. For example, if you turn off all fields of the “Drillings” area when reducing the tenon configuration, the “Drilling” button will no longer be displayed later. However, this applies only to the saved configuration that was reduced in this way. All other configurations will continue to display that button.
Once you have finished reducing the fields, close the dialog box with “OK”. The configuration will then be saved.
Undo reduction
Using the “Undo reduction” icon, you can reverse an existing reduction and thus make all settings visible again. If you open a reduced configuration within a dialog box, the invisible options are still taken into account. In general this is acceptable because those invisible options do not affect the respective configuration. Sometimes, however, you may want to know which invisible options are hidden behind it. In such a case you can make those options visible with a single click.
