Master Data - Data Exchange

With the data exchange in the construction data program, the currently used database can be updated or individual items or settings can be selectively exchanged between two databases. The operation and the technology of the data exchange have been revised and updated.

Data Exchange Dialog

The dialog is called in the construction data program with 4 Master Data -- 0 Data Exchange opened.

Data Exchange Database

  • In the upper area the path for the external database is selected. There is an option to generate an empty master data database.

  • Read data from external database

    • With the options Fitting connection, All static values and Fitting library a general update of these areas takes place. Please note that existing data will be deleted before copying.

  • Data Reconciliation - Components

    • It is possible to Components, Brick models and Fitting definitions read from the external database or written out to the external database.

  • Data Reconciliation -- Addresses / Static values

    • In the same way, individual addresses and static values can also be exchanged.

Data Exchange Settings

  • In the upper area the path for the external settings files is selected. The default directory is located in the installation directory in the subdirectory DHPDOT\Language.

  • Settings for lists, optimization blocks and Excel files can be synchronized.

The following description is based on the data reconciliation for Components. This has the most comprehensive options. The data reconciliation of Addresses / Static values / Settings is performed in a similar manner.

Data Reconciliation -- Components

  • Invoking the first data reconciliation requires time for reading. All subsequent reconciliations occur with shorter loading time.

  • Comparison of the databases: with the buttons at the bottom right (Only Single / Only Existing / Only Different) the identification numbers for the desired data exchange can be displayed.

  • If required, the differences can be exported to an Excel file using the buttons below.

  • Display of differences: by right-clicking an identification number or by pressing the button Show differences a dialog opens in which the differences between the identification numbers are displayed in bold text. Which properties are compared is controlled by the checkboxes in the upper area of the dialog.

  • Search and filter function: the magnifying-glass buttons next to the path specification of the databases call up a search. This has been expanded by filtering by Component type .

  • The reconciliation of one or more identification numbers is performed after selecting the checkboxes with the central arrow to the left. Whether the identification number remains in the original group after the reconciliation or is copied into the currently selected left group is controlled by the dropdown below Keep group / import into selected group .
